MAMBA VERY GOOD POINTS. In fact the two you mentioned, SX20 and FZ35, are exactly the ones I’m now deciding between because I just discovered then a few days ago. I’m amazed by the great price of both. I also thing 720p is more than adequate for video so I don’t think it’s worth it to consider the SX1 IS for $200 more. Canon has heavier weight, the flip screen, and the hot shoe. Panasonic can record video continuously and can start a new file automatically after the 4GB max is reached.
Really? Casio? You forgot the Panny FZ35. The HX1 is not that bad, but it got criticized for having noise at the lowest ISO during daylight. But really the top 3 you should be thinking about is Canon SX20 IS (or SX1), Sony HX1, or Panny FZ35. A couple of reviews about Casio EX-F1 said the 6MP image quality looked like a mid-range pocket P&S, and the high FPS at extremely low and pixelated resolutions made the camera just an expensive “Youtube toy.”
I got mine today.. cheap 499. Not bad considering it takes decent photos and has true 1080 HI Def. Not high end Hi Def but decent.
If you are considering the Sony HX-1 or Canon SX1 IS, you should also consider the Casio EX-F1 because it has a focus ring around the lens, a external mic jack, a hot shoe, a threaded lens for UV filters, and slow motion (if you want something fun). Hard to believe it’s from Casio. The problem is the price.
buy HX1 mate, its got more picture & video Quality
than H50…….go n grab one…..trust me, I own both.
The HX1 is the best in this moment , but the H50 brings, night shot, remot control, the HX1 no, but is has HD video, better optical and others things in imagen quality, but doesn’t have Raw format, I have the H50 and I prefer to wait to the next year for change to a new camera advanced with more zoom, raw format and a angular of 24mm.
Hey i am trying to decide wheather to buy the dsc-hx1 or the h50.Which one should i buy and which camera is better?
I don’t like that HX-1 doesnt have a remote control like the H50.
i actually bought the p90 first, expecting that it should have the image quality nikon is known for. but alas, the images are too yellow (this flaw has been cited in a lot of p90 reviews) and it gets too blurry when u use the 24x zoom, its almost not worth it. The sony dsc is WAY better in quality and in high tech features (esp. the sweep panoramic mode). it is really professional in quality with the convenience of a point and shoot. definitely worth the 500 bucks.
i`v just bought one,After reading a mag called “what digital camera” Here in the uk. the test was a shoot out between 4 of big boy`s nikon, pentax, canon, and sony,All 20x Super/zoom`s sony won hand`s down on shere optical Quality at full stretch!!!!!
This camera has an amazing video quality. Although its not FULL HD like the Canon Sx1 IS (1980×1080) it has a resolution of 1480×1080, wich is grate. Watch some of the sample in youtube. U can also zoom and take pics while filming.
watch my video
what about the video shooting ??!! is it nice or …. ??!!! it really matters for me
is this camera can use both films,,,
one film and one digitalcamera
i am not able to decide which one to but p 90 or dsc hx1 .. i love high zoom cameras thats the only thing thats keeping me from buying dschx1 as p 90 has a higher zoom
But beside the 4x more zoom, the P90 can almost not be compared with the Sony DSC-HX1.
i just bought it from sony centre 599 euro, everything very easy to use so handy ,i m soo excited its great
the best digital cam in the market at present .. it almost like SLR .. as it uses CMOS sensor now .. only thing better in NIKON p 90 is the optical Zoom ( 24 X) while dsc hx 1 is 20 X
i want it!
