amazing. how long can you record by HD?
How’s the battery life when in video mode? Can you take a pic while recording video?
Image stabilization appears to be pretty good when shooting the horizon or really long distances!

I have one and i have the same problem like you, when i use the zoom en video HD mode, in the down part of the scene there are like little white flashes. Do you know what we can do to eliminate?
Is it possible to use manual focus while recording a video? Can I edit the video files in VirtualDub without having to install various special codecs? Is there a custom firmware to save pictures without compression in RAW format?

I mean it’s the best at this price, and before going one step further with cameras (chosing a Reflex), this Sony is just perfect for me !

Sony chose to put 9 Megapixels because they estimate this is what fit the most with all the components of this camera. More Megapixels will not give such a big difference for THIS camera.
To my mind, this is the best camera that can combine HD filming and very good quality pictures.
I also like the CANON EOS 500D , this one give even more quality and allows filming in FULL HD, contrary to Sony DSCHX1 who films only in HD.

I like: The panorama mode which works perfect, the high speed photographing (about 10 pics/sec i think), the HD filming and the Megazoom!
The only thing which isnt so good is that the HX1 has just 9 MP but the pictures are still perfect because of the very good sensor!

Ok, can you tell me is there something you would like to change about this camera? I’m buying a camera, but I want to know all aspects before I do. That way I can buy a perfect one for the money I have. What do you like/hate most about this HX1 device?

thanks for uploading. just a question. can this camera shoot in macro with zoom on?
I tested this camera in a local camera shop. There has been much discussion about zoom noise and/or hum. Regarding the clicking snap sounds, I found that if you don’t release your finger quickly off the zoom lever causing it to snap, gently slide the lever, and don’t release your finger off the zoom lever until all zooming is completed, there was NO zoom snap sound. I couldn’t test for a zoom motor hum,however I notice that the camera makes the zoom speed slow down in movie mode vs still mode
Its not loud but yes, you can hear it! When you are watching it on TV or somewhere else you always hear a clicking while you are zooming in the movie.
But dont forget that it is a Digicam which should primary make perfect photos, not perfect movies.
